The only reason I am giving this trash can four stars is because it took three shipments before I finally received the entire thing. The first shipment came in a box that was partially destroyed. The trash can inside was not protected so it was scratched, dented, and wet. Amazon quickly resolved the issue by sending a second trash can; however, it arrived without a lid. The third time Amazon proactively sent two! Both arrived intact, wrapped in plastic, and with all required parts. I returned one (of course) and kept my purchase. It was very easy to assemble, the lock has worked wonderfully to keep my little toddler out of the trash, and it closes quietly as stated. The only negative thing I would have to say is that you have to fully compress the foot lever in order to get it to close quietly, if you quickly step on it and only open it part way to throw away a small item - it will slam shut.

This is a great trash can! It's very sturdy and still looks brand new after using it in the kitchen for about 4 months now. I really like the slow close feature and it's nice to know you can lock the lid if you need to. The only thing that could be a bit better is that it slides a bit on tile and linoleum as you step on it. It's not so much that it slides out from under your foot; it's more subtle than that, but I find that I have to pull it back into place every now and then. A friend of mine has one just like mine and she had hers up against a kitchen cabinet. The lid actually rubbed off the finish on the cabinet. Just something to be aware of.
